RECURRING CHARACTERS

Eddie Dunston (The Grizzled Road Dog): At 44 years old, Eddie is the best comic in the ‘biz no one has heard of. His completely improvised act has kept Eddie’s audiences rolling and him working for over 2 decades! But Eddie’s quick mouth has also landed him in the hotseat time and again with bookers and club owners, leaving him performing small-town shows without even a hint of moving up. Doesn’t bother Eddie, though: No wife, no kids, no mortgage - not even a written act - is Eddie living his best life!

Carter Hyers (The Type-A Newbie): Barely two years into her comedy career, 23-year-old Carter is a true student of the craft, and she takes comedy (as well as everything else) very seriously. Case in point: the stunning array of color-coded notebooks, pens, and markers she uses to keep her act in order. Think there’s so much as a speck of dust in her bedroom at her mom’s house in Milwaukee?

“Momma” Emma Hyers (Carter’s Brassy Mom): Holding the fort back home in Milwaukee for Carter is her momma, Emma. When Carter calls for support from her mom, or even just an encouraging word, Emma’s distracted response time and again is checking if Carter has “gotten this comedy thing out of her system yet”. No massive surprise that Carter’s chasing a major life change in Hollywood!

Roz Deagah (Eddie’s Exasperated Manager): Managing a hotbed of emotion like Eddie has kept Roz on blood pressure meds for over 20 years, but he HAS provided the most consistent paycheck Roz’s collected off any of the talent she’s ever represented, so no harm, no foul…?

PILOT EPISODE CHARACTER

Fletcher Connor (The Scumbag Club Owner): Like nearly every 1980’s comedy club owner, Fletcher desperately wants to be a comedian, and with no one to stop him, Fletcher makes that dream a reality every week by stealing as much of the spotlight as possible as host/emcee at his own club!
