

In 1987, the world of standup comedy was experiencing a boom not seen since the days of vaudeville…
…but tucked just beneath the glittering veneer of the mega-careers of superstars like Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy and Roseanne Barr were the thousands of road comics earning their livings performing in every bustling city and tiny town across America in hopes of making the leap from “working-class comic” to “comedic legend”!
Headliners centers around the lives and standup of two such comics: Eddie Dunston and Carter Hyers are each looking at shots at the big time, and all it will take for either of them to blow up is a weeklong road trip to Hollywood to work out the 5 minutes of material they’ll each need to cement their shots at glory...and hey, maybe they’ll even forge an unlikely friendship along the way?
